Tonight's plan
Set up your date
A few quick choices, then you're off.
There's no wrong way to do this. Skip anything that doesn't fit you two, and linger wherever you're having fun. Tonight is about each other, not checking every box.

Light the fuse
Dinner out first, then a fireworks show for the encore. Just a few things first.Tonight you're making your own show at home. Check these off ahead of time.
Spark it up
Light these one at a time while you wait for your food.Every great show starts with a few sparks. Light them one at a time while you wait for dark.
Set a 30-second timer. Rapid-fire as many compliments to your spouse as you can. Then switch. Whoever gives the most picks the treat.
Grab a napkin and a pen. Each of you draw a firework that shows how you feel about your spouse tonight. Big and loud? Slow and sparkly? Then explain your masterpiece. With a sparkler or your phone's flashlight, write a word in the air for your spouse. Make it a sweet one. Three tries to guess it.
Take turns. Red: something about your spouse that still makes you blush. White: a simple, everyday moment with them you love. Blue: a dream you have for the two of you.
Food's here? Seal it with a quick kiss and dig in.Seal it with a quick kiss before the show starts.
Breaking news
You two made the evening news. One of you holds the phone and asks the other for each word. No peeking at the story!
Something sweet
Order one dessert and two spoons.Share your treat. Every time you hand your spouse a bite, say one thing you love about them that you haven't said in a while.
Each of you pick one.
- Something about you that still gives me butterflies is…
- The best night we've ever had together was…
Ooh and ahh
Dinner was the opening act. Now head to the show, spread out the blanket, and lean back. Light your sparklers, or put the show on and dim the lights. Between bursts, take turns with these, starting with {H}.
"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."2 CORINTHIANS 3:17 (BSB)
Hold hands. Thank God for the freedom you have in Him and for the gift of each other. Ask Him to keep your love bright, out loud or silently.
The grand finale
The best shows save the best for last. So should a marriage.
Pick one thing you'll do this month.
- My favorite moment tonight was…
Drop used sparklers in the bucket of water before you head inside.
Ten seconds. Every finale should go out with a bang.
The sky went dark, but you two are still glowing. End the night the way every great show ends: together, sealed with a kiss.
