Training camp
Tonight the two of you compete in five friendly events, then share the podium. Check these off ahead of time.
Opening ceremony
Do this at home, right before you head out. Every great competition starts with a little pageantry.
Type in each of your walk-out songs and tap play. While your song plays, your spouse introduces you like a stadium announcer: name, hometown, and one "career highlight" from your life.
Turn on a phone flashlight as your torch and carry it together out to the caracross the room. Tonight you compete against each other, but you'll always be on the same team.
Repeat after each other: "I promise to play fair, laugh often, cheer for you, and celebrate you whether I win or lose." Seal it with a quick kiss.
Five events, two champions
Pick where you're competing tonight, and all five events happen right there. Play each event, then tap who took the gold. Ties are allowed. Bragging rights are not.
The best team in the world
Sit down for your victory dinner. Every champion team has a few things in common. Read each one out loud and take turns answering, starting with {H}.
Step up to the podium
Here's tonight's medal count.
Hang an imaginary medal around your spouse's neck and finish this sentence: "You deserve a gold medal for…"
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. For if one falls, his companion can lift him up."ECCLESIASTES 4:9–10 (BSB)
Hold hands. Thank God for giving you a teammate for life, and ask Him to help you lift each other up this week, out loud or silently.
Closing ceremony
Champions keep training. Pick one way you'll keep your team strong this month.
- My favorite moment of the games tonight was…
- The thing I most want to cheer you on in this month is…
Driver, eyes on the road. Save the victory kiss for when you're parked.
Seven seconds on the top step of the podium. Overtime is allowed.
One of you may have more medals, but you both went home with the prize. End the night the way every great champion does: celebrating, together, with a kiss.
