Trail
A date night for married couples
Pack for the trail
Tonight is a slow, thankful evening: pie for two, a walk, a little gratitude for someone else, and a lot of it for each other.
One slice, two forks
Order one slice of pie and two forks.Put one dessert on one plate with two forks. Here's the rule: before every bite, you have to say one thing you're thankful for. Take turns.
Tap after each one. How many can you fit in one slice?
The thankful walk
Take a walk through a park, a neighborhood with fall leaves, or down Main Street.Walk through your home room by room, or step outside and walk around the block. At each stop, both answer the prompt, starting with {W}.
Pass it on
Thanksgiving is better shared. Write a thank-you note together to someone who has poured into your marriage: a mentor couple, a parent, a pastor, or a friend.
Copy it onto a real card, text them a photo of it tonight, then mail it or hand it to them.
Around the table
Find something warm to drink. Take turns answering, starting with {H}.
Give thanks
Before there was a holiday, there was a command and a promise: God is good, and His love doesn't run out.
"Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!"PSALM 107:1 (ESV)
- A way I saw God's steadfast love for us this year was…
- Something I took for granted that I want to thank God for more is…
Take turns thanking God for three things about your spouse. Then thank Him for one hard thing He carried you through this year.
Our thankful list
Pull out the secret thank-you notes you wrote before the date and read them to each other. Then fill in your thankful list. It goes on your date card, so you can look back on it next Thanksgiving.
The thank-you kiss
You've said thank you all night. Say it one more way.
Driver, eyes on the road. Save the kiss for when you're parked.
Ten seconds, one for every thank-you you can think of.
Of everything on your thankful list, the one you married is near the top. Close the night with a kiss.
Pass the joy along
